Today, Indigenous artist Jeremy Mclellan (Cree Nation) visited our head office to collaborate with our WeCare Inclusion and Belonging Committee to identify the perfect location for his original indigenous artwork, which will illuminate our head office reception area.
We plan to prominently showcase this artwork, alongside our Formal Land Acknowledgement, as a symbol of our dedication to meaningfully collaborating with indigenous communities through impactful allyship.
Jeremy's artwork is set to bring a radiant glow to the front of our office, and we look forward to the grand reveal on the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation.

NEWSPAGE ARTICLE
PROJECT COMPLETE: SICKKIDS PATIENT SUPPORT CENTRE
We're proud to report that our construction team has received a certificate of substantial completion for the work we delivered onsite at the SickKids Patient Support Centre!
The substantial completion of the SickKids Patient Support Centre (PSC) marks a significant milestone in Project Horizon. This much larger, 15-year campus redevelopment project will shape the future of pediatric care as we know it. With its innovative cross-campus connections—which include a pedestrian bridge to the main hospital and a link to SickKids Research Institute—this new 22-storey education, training, and administrative hub unifies modern design and purposeful integration. The new PSC will be home to the SickKids Learning Institute; with state-of-the-art tools like the Simulation Centre, the facility will help ensure the hospital's practitioners actively remain at the forefront of pediatric care.
Plan Group's scope of work was pivotal in bringing the PSC to life as the Electrical and Technology subcontractors on this project. From the optimized routing of conduit and communication cables to the intricate installation of state-of-the-art security devices and artisanal Italian light fixtures, our team ensured every detail met the highest standards. Our expertise guaranteed that every component of the facility's Electrical and Technology infrastructure met precise standards, providing a fully functional, cohesive system.
THE PLAN GROUP DIFFERENCE
Delivering A Fully Integrated Building Intelligence Platform
As the project's Master Technology Integrator (MIT), Plan Group Technology worked closely with Sick Kids to design, install, and seamlessly integrate a state-of-the-art Building Intelligence Platform with customized use case integrations. (IBP).
Conceptualized with scalability and flexibility in mind, the IBP we delivered is a consolidated interface that collects and processes building information from multiple sources across various systems. The innovative technology will allow users to monitor analytics and manage building data from one centralized location. Highlights of this integration include innovations such as the People Counting System, offering real-time space usage insights; Room Scheduling Integration, streamlining meeting space efficiency; and a proactive Automation of Work Orders, optimizing facility management.
"The most challenging aspect was ensuring we could identify and capture the distinct needs of the end users within each user group. We prioritized establishing mutual priority requirements to ensure alignment with scope and feasibility, all while managing expectations and thoughtfully navigating the complexities of catering to large groups of individuals."
Nick Palmieri – Technology Project Manager
The advanced IBD we brought to life at the SickKids Patient Support Centre exemplifies how Plan Group's forward-thinking approach seamlessly aligns with the evolving landscape of SMART-building technology.
POWERED BY PRECISION
Our Comprehensive Electrical Solution
As Electrical Subcontractors for this project, our scope was broad and intricate. Our electrical solution included incorporating a ground grid within the slab on grade, complete with bare riser conductors leading to the main electrical room as stipulated by the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC). Additionally, the building was outfitted with an insulated ground riser safeguarding the IT Communication Network and a rooftop lightning protection system to shield the structure from potential strikes during storms. From essential power and LV units to security and CCTV setups, we spent around 300 person-hours installing hundreds of various devices throughout the building. Additionally, we delivered the facility's conduit and raceways while diligently routing fire alarms and security cabling. All these tasks enabled us to get the facility's electrical systems up and running smoothly.
TOGETHER, WE THRIVE
Most importantly, we want to thank and congratulate the entire team on successfully delivering this significant project. Your hard work, combined talents, and commitment to excellence have made the SickKids PSC Project a noteworthy example of Plan Group's capabilities. We would also like to give a special acknowledgment to our technology and electrical team leads. Their relentless commitment, attention to detail, and overall leadership were instrumental in ensuring the facility's Building Intelligence Platform and Electrical infrastructure were delivered precisely and efficiently.
The diligent efforts of all those involved in the delivery of this project have helped to ensure the SickKids PSC Project will stand as a benchmark of Plan Group's excellence and innovation for years to come!
Another job well done, #TeamPlanGroup!
